The availability of PSA information is in many organisations a limiting factor in the extended use of risk insights. Presenting the PSA information in a way to be accessible and understandable to a broad spectrum of potential users is a challenge everywhere. As a consequence, uses of PSA informations within an organization are severely limited, thus jeopardizing many potentially fruitful applications.
Thanks to its experience in both the development of PSA and use of PSA information, ENCONET established the basis for the development of a tool aimed at providing PSA information to the fingertips of anybody connected to an organization’s network. The tool, called PSA information system was developed for CSN in collaboration between ENCONET and Inypsa.
The following were the main requirements for CSN’s PSA information system:
- Make information easily and quickly accessible
- Assure up-to-date status of information
- Transparency of information
- Clarify assumptions and limitations
- Structure information focused on users
- Enable storage/retrieval of additional information
CSN’s PSA information system has the following characteristics:
- Tool for organization of PSA documentation
- Re-quantification not envisaged
- An off-line re-calculation of PSA models for specific issues
- Information related with sequence/system/components
- Information on risk profile for expected cases provided
- Specific TS LCO conditions pre-processed and provided on-line
- User’s provision for comments/remarks on components/ systems
- Build-up of a comprehensive knowledge base
- Links provided with P&IDs, components, sequences, etc.
ENCONET offers consultancy services and support in the development, selection, customisation and implementation of the PSA information system, PSA documentation system as well as other systems to be used for the dissemination of PSA information within an organization.
ENCONET also offers Training services on PSA information systems and use of this information.
