What is RODOS?
RODOS (Real-time On-line Decision Support system for off-site emergency
management in Europe) is a premier decision support system to provide support in decision making to authorities dealing with the management of emergencies and recoveries.
RODOS provides consistent and comprehensive information on present and
future radiological situations, the extent, benefits and drawbacks of
emergency actions and countermeasures, and methodological support for taking
decisions on emergency response strategies. The main users of the system are those responsible at local, regional, national and supra-national levels for off-site
emergency management. The application of the system for training and exercises
was a further important consideration in its development.
RODOS has been designed as a comprehensive system incorporating models and
databases for assessing, presenting and evaluating accident consequences over
all distances. It can be applied at all distances from the release site, and takes
account of emergency actions and countermeasures. It can be used from the
moment an accident threatens, through to long-term actions implemented
months or years after an accident.
ENCONETs Activities on RODOS
ENCONET has been supporting the installation and customisation of RODOS in
several central European countries. This project encompasses the procurement,
commissioning and testing of hardware and communication lines, customisation of RODOS for local conditions, preparation of operating procedures and arrangements and training on relevant aspects of RODOS and its utilisation.
